SuperVPN is a freeware VPN client for Android that lets you access its serves with a single tap.

SuperVPN is a VPN client app developed by SuperSoftTech. Free VPN services can be hit or miss and more often misses in our experience, but SuperVPN is an exception. This is technically a trial version, and there is a paid upgrade available, but the trial is unlimited, so it is essentially freeware. In addition, it does provide a one-tap experience, which makes this an excellent choice for casual users.

VPN stands for virtual private network. When you connect to the VPN, that VPN makes Web requests on your behalf and transfers the data to you. In other words, when you access a website through SuperVPN, SuperSoftTech is the only provider aware of it. Your data is encrypted and otherwise protected, and SuperSoftTech has a strong reputation for user privacy and other security concerns.

When we say that free VPN services can be hit or miss, what we mean is that these free services are often severely limited. They may be inaccessible at times. They may undermine your experience with ads, and they may limit your bandwidth to the point of being impractical. SuperVPN does none of these things. The uptime for the free service is impeccable. There are ads, but these are handled well. In addition, bandwidth is unlimited. In other words, there is no limit to how much data your can transfer or how long you can be connected to the network, which is truly impressive for a free VPN.

It is important to note that use of any VPN will slow you down to some degree. You are adding an extra step to your communication. This is another problem with free VPNs. With paid VPNs, you are often paying for that extra speed. But we were able to stream movies with no buffering issues, and regular Internet access was certainly fine. Playing games through the VPN was an area the app came up short, which is to be expected. Gamers should definitely consider a paid service.

Our biggest knock against SuperVPN is that there is no location data. You have no easily accessible idea if you are connecting to a server in the U.S. or somewhere in Europe. This an issue since VPNs have achieved mass appeal by helping people access geo-blocked content.

SuperVPN offers limited options in general. Perhaps this is the nature of one-tap ease, but advanced VPN users and even many casuals enjoying Netflix will want more control. The paid upgrade does give you more control. You can, for instance, choose to log in via a server in Germany or Canada or wherever. Still, if you are considering paying, you may want to compare to the sophisticated options that many paid VPN services are offering these days.
